SEED BUTTER

Soaked nuts and seeds can aid in digestion and it also reduces phytates! Soaking them releases the phytates which is good because phytates have been linked to iron deficiency because it can actually inhibit the bottom from absorbing iron properly👎🏼 Phytates are found in many plant foods but the key is to not have too many in our bodies😬

Soaked Sunflower Seed butter

Ingredients:

1 cup sunflower seeds

½ cup pumpkin seeds

1 tbsp. ghee

½ tsp. cinnamon

¼ tsp. salt

Directions:

  1. Soak sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds overnight (or for 8 hours) in two separate containers
  2. In the morning, pour water out and rinse seeds
  3. Place on the dehydrator trays in a single layer and dehydrate for 8-12 hours or until crisp (I think you can do this in a oven as well, at the lowest setting. Make sure they don’t burn though)
  4. Once crisp, add seeds to a food processor and pulse a few times. Add ghee and pulse until crumbly mixture forms. After a few more pulses it should become smoother and smoother
  5. Once close to the desired texture, add cinnamon and salt
  6. Place into a small mason jar and keep in fridge
